Roatan Marine Park Location
The Sandy Bay-West End Marine Reserve is located along the northwest coast of Roatan, the largest of the islands that form the Bay Islands in Honduras, Central America. The fringing reefs, sea grass beds and mangroves in the Reserve are home to a spectacular array of sea life.
The Bay Islands are located off the northern coast of Honduras, in the western Caribbean and form the southern-most portion of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System (MBRS). The MBRS, also simply known as the Mesoamerican reef, stretches from the tip of the Yucatán Peninsula down to the Bay Islands of Honduras and includes the Belize Barrier Reef. The reef structure is the largest coral reef in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest coral reef.
